Summary:

Operates radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnosticimages as directed by physicians. Performs routine diagnosticprocedures and may be required to function as a Medical Assistantas needed. Behavior and communication skills must align with theorganizations mission, values and culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively,both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent customerservice skills required
  • Positions patients andadjusts equipment for taking radiographic images followingestablished procedures. Instructs patients regarding procedures.Observes patient's vital signs duringexamination.
  • Follows prescribed safetystandards in operating radiologic equipment.
  • Maintains accurate radiology records as directed and logs allprocedures completed. Processes routine paperwork and filesreports.
  • Operate radiologic equipment toproduce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
  • Position radiologic equipment and adjustcontrols to set exposure factors according to specification ofexamination.
  • Follows established radiologicrequirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.
  • Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessarymedical and radiologic supplies.
  • Cleans andmakes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment. Schedules routinemaintenance. Develops and monitors an ongoing QI program withtargeted QI aspects of care to be reported on a routine basis.Ensures department compliance with OSHA.
  • Participates in training employees in equipment operation, patientmovement, and quality assurance.
  • Attendsrequired meetings and participates in committees asrequested.
  • Enhances professional growththrough education programs, conferences, andworkshops.
  • Follows the CHRISTUS PhysicianGroup guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability andAccountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detectunauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information(PHI).
  • Maintains strictconfidentiality.
  • Uses oral and writtencommunication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear,positive manner that is consistent with the CHRISTUSMission.
  • Maintains established CHRISTUSPhysician Group policies, procedures, objectives, qualityassurance, safety, environmental and infectioncontrol.
  • Implements job responsibilities in amanner that is consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission and Code ofEthics and supportive of CHRISTUS Physician Group's culturaldiversity objectives.
  • Supports and adheres toCPG Service Guarantee.
  • Performs other relatedwork as required.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of AMA approved School of RadiologicalSciences or other accepted and approved equivalentrequired
  • One year of experience as a radiologictechnologist preferred
  • Current state licensureand certification (ARRT) with the American Registry of RadiologicTechnologists required
  • Current BLS (AmericanHeart Association) required
